Emergency 24-Hour Activation Pager 780-491-4267

Actions for Group Members

Members should monitor VE6UV (VHF 147.090 MHz PLUS shift with 114.8 Hz tone) if it is obvious from the media that a major emergency or disaster has occurred in the area.

If ANY served Agency calls out the group following a major emergency or disaster in the Edmonton Metropolitan Area, ARES Edmonton region members will be alerted by text to their cell-phones or contacted by telephone  (assuming the telephone networks are operational) – using the group's call out list by a member of the ‘Operations Group’, or by radio if they are monitoring.

ARES members who are alerted or who become aware of a major emergency or a disaster should monitor VE6UV for ARES net activity.

Actions for Operations Group Members

All served Agencies will have a list of members of the Operations Group, together with contact telephone numbers and the 24-hour emergency pager number. Normally, all served agencies will call the 24-hour emergency pager number to activate ARES Edmonton.

The first Operations Group member to respond to the pager notification will become the Incident Commander and will contact the served agency for further details. Based on our Standard Operating Procedures, the IC will determine if a activation is necessary and will proceed to notify our members. The primary notification is by text messaging and establishing an initial net control on the VE6UV repeater.
